Sedikit membahas makna  lagu Someone Like You, lagu ini ditulis langsung oleh penanyinya yang  ditulis berdasarkan kisah nyata dari kehidupan adele itu sendiri. Ia bercerita tentang manta kekasihanya yang telah menemukan kekasih yang baru dan mantanya ini telah bahagia dengan kekasih barunya itu. Dan juga kekasih baru dari mantanya itu juga telah memberikan hal yang tidak bisa adele berikan kepada mantan kekasih nya itu. 

Adele sangat sulit menghadapi kenyataan itu. Tapi ia juga berusaha untuk tidak larut dalam kesedihannya. Ia berusaha memohon kepada mantan kekasihnya agar mengingat saat-saat bersama dengan dirinya, karena semuanya belum berakhir.
